Golden-winged Jungleskimmer

Type locality: Coquilhatville [= Mbandaka], DRC

Diagnosis

Male is similar to H. camarensis by (a) frons at least partially dark metallic; (b) labrum all pale, sometimes dark brown or black; (c) labium all pale; (d) vertex without tubercles; (e) thorax and Abd dull brown to black, not rufous; (f) numerous cell-doublings in medial planate of Fw and often Hw; (g) Pt seldom over 4 mm long; (h) S2 under 4 mm broad. However, differs by (1) being restricted to the C Congo Basin; (2) mesepisterna largely blackish to brown, like sides of thorax; (3) wings all deep golden-yellow; (4) Fw triangle of 3 cells (rarely 2 or 4), subtriangle of 5-6 (occasionally varies 3-8). Habitat description

Not known, but probably small pockets of often temporary water in tree holes (and similar small containers) shaded by forest. Probably often with coarse detritus. From 300 to 700 m above sea level.
