The only species currently recognised in this genus in Africa. Please refer to the genus diagnosis and introduction for more information.

Habitat description

Standing and probably often temporary waters shaded by forest. Probably often with overhanging branches, coarse detritus and/or a soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1300 m above sea level, but mostly below 600.
